Man illegally transports wood, booked

Kolhapur: The Patan forest range, under the Satara forest department, on Tuesday booked a man for illegally transporting wood at Mauje Nade village in Patan tehsil.Range forest officer for Patan, Rajesh Nalawde, said, "A tractor illegally transporting timber products without a licence were found at Mauje Nade village in Patan's forest area on April 14."He added, "Accordingly, a forest crime has been registered against the accused Vikram Ganpat Lohar, resident of Mhavshi, under Section 41 (2) (b) of the Indian Forest Act, 1927. The punishment for the crime is imprisonment for a year or fine up to Rs5,000 or both. In this forest crime, the tractor, trolley and timber felled without a permit have been seized."
