Nashik/Kolhapur/Chhtarapati Sambhajinagar:The Nashik police will deploy strict bandobust to ensure that there is no traffic congestion or any untoward incident on Thursday, considering the large number of processions that will be taken out for
Gudi Padwa.
From early morning, citizens will be dressed in special attires as there will bevarious new year processions organised in the city.
The city police said that they would be diverting traffic on the Nashik-Trimbak Road during the religious programmes.
The police said, "In Satpur, a Bhavani Mata fair is held in Nashik apart from the programme of pulling 12 bullock carts without the bullocks. A large number of devotees attend this event every year, which leads to traffic congestion.
Thus, the police will be prohibiting vehicles in both directions on the Nashik-Trimbak Road between Sakal Circle and Mahindra Circle."
All vehicles will be diverted as two-way traffic from Sakal Circle, Achanak Chowk, MSEDCL Office, Nashik Oxygen Company and Papaya Nursery.The traffic diversion will be in effect from noon to 10pm.The restriction will not be applicable to police vehicles, ambulances, fire brigade vehicles, etc.
Senior officers said, "All in-charge officers of the police stations across the city have been instructed to maintain bandobust in their respective jurisdictions to avoid any untoward incident."
Similarly in Kolhapur city, markets were decorated with bamboo sticks, sugar garlands, fruits, garlands, puja essentials, and mini Gudi sticks in preparation for the festival.
Preparations for admission to pre-school and first grade have begun in schools for Gudi Padwa. Some municipal schools have started advance bookings. Pooja Jadhav, parent to a two-and-a-half-year-old child from Mangalwar Peth, said, "After visiting over 5 preschools in city areas, we have finalised a kindergarten school for my son. We will take his admission on Thursday, as Gudi Padwa is considered to be an auspicious occasion to start something new."
Meanwhile, the real estate, automobiles, electronics and gold jewellery market will see a huge turnover on Gudi-Padwa in Kolhapur markets. Various discount schemes have been launched to attract customers.
In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, households were ready to raise Gudi and perform pooja in their houses to celebrate the festival. The festival is likely to witness a surge in the sale of automobiles, electronics, and gadgets among other items in city markets.
