PATNA: A day after a lovelorn youth died under mysterious circumstances in the presence of his girlfriend and her two acquaintances at the city’s
Gandhi Maidan on Monday afternoon, the deceased’s brother lodged an FIR accusing the three women of murder.
The trio, detained for interrogation after the incident, were arrested and forwarded to jail.
Vidya Shankar, 26, allegedly consumed poison and stabbed self after his girlfriend, Archana Kumari, spurned his proposal to marry him.
At the time of the incident, Archana was accompanied by Rita Devi and Dolly, police said.
“My brother, before breathing his last in the PMCH, told me that he was stabbed by one of the three women,” SP (City) Shivdeep Lande quoted complainant Ravi Sagar as having alleged in his FIR. However, police are yet to arrive at a conclusion. “Anything concrete can be said only after we get the autopsy report,” the SP said.
Lande, who again visited the spot on Tuesday, said samples of vomiting stains were collected from the spot and sent for forensic investigation. Police have also seized five cellphones, including one from the deceased’s person and four others from the possession of the three women. Vidya’s laptop has also been seized and IT experts are being roped in to access details stored in it.
Archana’s father and Vidya’s father work for the railways and, as such, the two families live in the Railway Colony at Khagaul, Lande said and added Vidya was a BBA student at Khagaul while Archana was doing graduation from IGNOU.
