RAJKOT: With a view to strengthen business relationships, Rajkot Engineering Association and Rajkot Chamber of Commerce have joined hands with Manitoba Trade and Investment and Global Network to promote bilateral trade, investment, technology transfer, joint ventures and collaborations.

"The officials will explain about business opportunities in Manitoba. Global Network is organizing a visit of a trade and investment delegation from Rajkot to Manitoba in August. Bilateral trade between Canada and India currently stands at about $4.5 billion and Canada plans to double it by 2016. India's exports includes apparel, precious stones, and metals organic chemicals, textiles, medical devises, iron and steel products to Canada. Imports from Canada include cereals, fertilizers, aircraft, paper and paperboard,'' trade and investment representative from Manitoba Jagat Shah said.
He said the two-way trade between Manitoba and India increased to $145 million in 2013, up from $45 million in 2004.
"There are immense opportunities in Manitoba for joint ventures and business in the areas of aerospace, information and communications technologies, agriculture and agro-food, life sciences, light engineering and mining among others. Hundreds of Indian students are being enrolled in Manitoba institutions every year and it has become a hub for pilot training attracting Indian students annually,'' he said.
