Army Jawan Arrested for Molesting College Student in Ranchi

Ranchi: A 38-year-old Army jawan was arrested for allegedly molesting a 23-year-old college student in the city on Friday, police said on Saturday. Police said the accused is a native of Haryana and his unit is posted in Ranchi.Police officer Rupesh Kumar said the jawan, allegedly intoxicated, molested the girl near a chowk on Friday. He said the accused was identified and caught after police examined footage from CCTV cameras and carried out further investigation.He added, “Police informed the commanding officer of the jawan before making the arrest. CCTV footage was produced before the court, which sent him to judicial custody on Friday. A case has been registered against the jawan under relevant sections of the BNS in this connection.”
