Jharkhand to Get Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital: Union Health MoS Approves Major Healthcare Boost

Ranchi: Union minister of state (MoS) for health Prataprao Jadhav has given his in-principal approval for setting up an ayurvedic medical college and hospital in Jharkhand, state health minister Irfan Ansari said on Thursday.Ansari, along with additional chief secretary health Ajoy Kumar Singh, met Jadhav in New Delhi and discussed a wide range of issues.“During the meeting, Jharkhand received several major healthcare benefits, including in-principle approval for the establishment of an Ayurvedic Medical College and Teaching Hospital, high-end diagnostic labs equipped with Japanese technology in all medical colleges and Ranchi Sadar Hospital, concrete steps towards expanding MBBS and PG seats in medical colleges, including SNMCH Dhanbad and MGM Jamshedpur, positive agreement on central government support under the Abua Health Scheme,” Ansari said in a social media post.Commenting on the new developments especially the high-end diagnostic labs in the state’s hospitals, Ansari said, "Strengthening diagnostic facilities is a top priority of the state government so that patients receive accurate diagnosis and advanced treatment within Jharkhand itself, reducing the need to travel outside the state for medical care.”Ansari said he also took up the shortage of doctors in govt healthcare system in Jharkhand and proposed to increase add 150 MBBS seats at Dhanbad and Jamshedpur medical colleges. “The minister assured that the proposal will be taken forward after inspections by experts,” Ansari said.In another significant decision, in-principle approval was granted for the construction of wellness health centres, also known as Health Cottages, in all districts of state under a 60:40 Centre–State funding pattern. Ansari said, “These centres would offer treatment in a better and patient-friendly environment, thereby strengthening public trust in govt healthcare institutions.”The Centre also assured support for Jharkhand’s Abua Health Scheme, under which beneficiaries are provided free treatment up to Rs 15 lakh. Jadhav directed officials to immediately submit the names of two hospitals so that central cooperation under the scheme could commence without delay.Singh said, "All necessary documentation would be completed expeditiously and forwarded to the central government to ensure that the approved initiatives are implemented at the earliest.”
