JPSC Aspirant Robbed and Assaulted After Being Offered Lift to Exam Center in Hazaribag
Hazaribag: A state civil services aspirant was allegedly robbed and assaulted by unidentified persons who offered him a lift to his examination centre and later dumped him near the Tilaiya overbridge, police said on Sunday.Dheeraj Kumar of Shiv Mohalla in Koderma said that he was going to the exam centre at Dumri in Giridih district to appear for the JPSC exam on Sunday morning. He was waiting for a bus at Barhi block in Hazaribag around 4:30 am when an SUV with four to five occupants stopped near him. They told him they were also heading to the same centre and offered him a ride.Kumar added that the vehicle moved for about 1.5 km to 2 km before suddenly turning back, following which the occupants allegedly assaulted him and robbed his gold locket, a ring, around Rs 2,000 in cash and his mobile phone. When he resisted, he was beaten up, he alleged.The accused later threw him out of the vehicle near Tilaiya overbridge and fled. The victim subsequently lodged a complaint at Barhi police station.Barhi police station officer in-charge Binod Kumar said that an investigation is underway. “Efforts are on to identify the vehicle owner and trace the accused,” he said.
