Sahibganj woman rescued from Gurugram house after NHRC intervention
Dumka: A 23-year-old woman from Sahibganj, allegedly missing for nearly four years, was rescued from a household in Gurugram on Thursday after intervention by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).The action followed a complaint by Delhi-based NGO Mission Mukti Foundation, alleging she was illegally confined and forced to work as domestic help under bonded labour-like conditions.NHRC Member Priyank Kanoongo, in a May 22 communication, cited inputs received through Jharkhand Bhawan. NHRC directed Gurugram police, district and labour officials, and the anti-human trafficking unit to act.“The Commission had sought an action taken report within three days,” said Mission Mukti Foundation director Virender Kumar Singh.
