Daman's finance secretary slapped by Gujarat's woman Congress leader

SURAT: Finance Secretary of Daman and Diu, Dr SB Deepak Kumar was put in an embrassing situation when a woman Congress leader slapped him for using derogatory language against her at Surat airport.
Meghna Patel, secretary of Gujarat Pradesh Congress was returning to Surat from Delhi after attending the All India Congress Committee’s (AICC) plenary meeting in New Delhi in the Air India flight when Daman’s finance secretary Dr SB Deepak Kumar allegedly misbehaved with a passenger sitting next to Meghna onboard the flight on a trivial issue of turning the mobile phone off.
When the flight reached Surat, Dr Kumar caught the passenger identified as Mukesh Patel and started heated arguments over the phone issue. The passenger repeatedly pleaded to Dr Kumar that his phone developed some technical snag and could not be switched off and that he could approach the airline staff for further clarification.
It was when Meghna intervened, Dr Kumar allegedly used derogatory remark calling her ‘Bitch’. In a sudden reaction, Meghna slapped the officer in front of the passengers on the tarmac.
“I had gone to attend AICC plenary meeting in Delhi and was returning in Air India flight on Monday evening. A passenger sitting next to me was unable to turn off his mobile phone and his phone was ringing continuously despite the announcement. This man in question was seated in the back row and shouted on the passenger” said Meghna.
Meghna added, “The issue was not over. He (Dr Kumar) again caught the passenger right on the tarmac and misbehaved with him in front of other passengers. AS a social worker, I jumped in and asked him to behave in a polite manner. But, he lambasted on me saying ‘who are you bitch’. To this, I got agitated and slapped him on his face. In retaliation, Dr Kumar also slapped me twice”
According to Meghna, the ground staff and the airport police immediately rushed to the spot. A fellow passenger who was shooting the entire incident was caught by the police and he was forced to delete the video clip. I was taken to other chamber and the police urged me to end the matter.
Meghna added, “The Modi government talks about women empowerment, beti padhao, beti bachao, but senior officers in his own territory are misbehaving and using derogatory language against a woman. I will not tolerate this and after discussing with my party leaders, I will be taking action against the finance secretary”
Despite repeated attempts to contact Dr SB Deepak Kumar, he was not available for comments.
