Visakhapatnam: Dr BS Chakravarthi, professor and head of paediatrics dept at Andhra Medical College/King George Hospital, launched five free child health apps on Saturday which he said are designed to help parents, ASHA workers and health volunteers with child vaccination schedules, growth tracking, nutrition guidance, developmental milestones, autism screening, and basic care during illness. The apps, which were launched by AMC principal Dr Sandhya Devi and KGH superintendent Dr I Vani, can be opened directly on any smartphone without downloading.
The five apps include VacciTrack for child vaccination schedules, GrowRight for tracking the growth of children aged 0 to 5 years, TinySteps for child development and autism screening, NutriChild Pro for nutrition guidance and Andhra diet plans, and SickChildGuide for information on fever care, ORS, danger signs, and home care.
Dr Chakravarthi said his aim was to make parents feel supported when their children fall sick, especially during emergencies at night. He also clarified that the apps are only for awareness and basic guidance, and parents should always consult a qualified paediatrician for medical advice and treatment decisions.
