Visakhapatnam: Professor and head of the department of paediatrics at Andhra Medical College and King George Hospital, Dr B S Chakraborty, launched five free digital child health tools on his birthday on Thursday. The apps, designed for parents, ASHA workers and healthcare professionals, can be accessed directly on any smartphone without download. Andhra Medical College principal Dr Sandhya Devi and King George Hospital superintendent Dr I Vani launched the apps.
The five apps are VacciTrack — IAP 2024, GrowRight — WHO Growth Tracker (0–5 years), TinySteps — Developmental Milestones & Autism Screening, NutriChild Pro — Nutrition Assessment & Andhra Food Plan, and SickChildGuide — Fever, ORS, Danger Signs & Home Care.
Dr Chakraborty clarified that these applications are not a substitute for medical advice and urged users not to rely solely on their outcomes. He emphasised that all decisions regarding a child’s health should be made in consultation with a qualified paediatrician.
