After Kantara row, Ranveer visits Chamundeshwari Temple
Months after sparking outrage for mimicking a scene from Kantara: Chapter 1 at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, actor Ranveer Singh on Tuesday visited the Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru and offered prayers. The visit comes days after the Karnataka High Court closed proceedings against the actor following his unconditional apology in the controversy. Ranveer complied, visiting the temple and offering special prayers to Goddess Chamundeshwari. His visit was largely kept secret. The actor, who was spotted entering the Mumbai airport on early Tuesday morning, wore a mask until he reached the sanctum sanctorum and later entered the garbhagudi for prayers. The row erupted in November 2025 after Ranveer recreated Rishab Shetty’s daiva act from the film during the IFFI closing ceremony, drawing criticism from netizens and cultural groups. Bangalore Times had reported then that Rishab had politely asked Ranveer not to imitate the sacred act.Following the backlash and FIRs filed in Karnataka, Ranveer later issued a public apology, stating he had no intention of hurting religious sentiments.
