Teen electrocuted by low-hanging power line in Firozabad; villagers block road
Agra: A 16-year-old boy was electrocuted after coming into contact with a low-hanging 11,000-volt power line in Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. Sonu Shakya was helping his father in the fields at Sarai Matiyari village under Jasrana police station limits when the incident occurred.The death triggered protests, with villagers demanding action against the electricity department and compensation for the bereaved family. The protesters also blocked the Etah-Shikohabad road, causing traffic disruptions. Jasrana SDM Rajesh Kumar Shukla and CO Prem Prakash Pandey rushed to the spot and persuaded the protesters to disperse.Later, Firozabad police, in a statement, said: “The body has been sent for postmortem examination. A probe is on in the matter. The law and order situation is normal.”
