City hosts International conference of surgeons
AHMEDABAD: Renowned surgeons from various parts of the subcontinent are attending the 73rd annual conference organized by the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI) in the city. The event was inaugurated at Gujarat convention center.
The three-day conference is expected to be attended by 6,500 delegates in all, organizers said. Advancements in field of surgery will be discussed.

Multidisciplinary workshops, quizzes, lectures by eminent surgeons and live sessions will be part of the conference to engage the delegates.
Secretary general of SAARC Surgical Care Society, Professor M D Lamawansa said, “Surgeons from different countries come to learn in India because of skilled surgeons and advance equipment here. Moreover, interaction and meetings among surgeons and wide-spread participation from the SAARC countries can help grow this industry.”
“The last such conference took place in Ahmedabad 1988. We are hosting another conference after 15 years. We are proud that the ASI has chosen Ahmedabad to celebrate the platinum Jubilee,” said Dr Kaushik Shah, organizing secretary of the event.
