Fees for LC: Ahmedabad’s Seventh Day School faces probe
Ahmedabad: Seventh Day School in Nikol is once again facing controversy over allegations of illegal fee collection for leaving certificates (LC). The school administration was allegedly charging Rs 300 from students for the document, despite rules prohibiting such charges. The issue came to light after a written complaint, along with fee receipts as evidence, was submitted to the Ahmedabad city district education officer (DEO).DEO Rohit Chaudhary has issued a show-cause notice to the school and formed a special investigation team. Action will be based on the team’s report. According to education department rules, no private or grant-in-aid school can charge fees to issue an LC. The DEO has directed the team to determine how many students were charged the amount. Authorities indicated that all illegal fees collected may be refunded. The school has been asked to submit a written explanation.
