Shimla police seize 300 illegal liquor bottles

Shimla: In crackdown against illegal liquor trade and smuggling, Shimla police seized over 300 liquor bottles during a special drive across various police station areas on May 12, registering cases under the Himachal Pradesh Excise Act.During the drive, the police recovered large quantities of country liquor and beer from different parts of the district, including Chopal, Rohru, Theog, Sadar and West Shimla. The biggest seizure was made near Riyuni in Chopal, where 120 bottles of country liquor were seized from a car and two persons were arrested. Another 72 bottles of ‘Santra No. 1' liquor were seized near Pulbahal bridge.Police also confiscated 65 bottles of liquor and beer in Rohru, 30 bottles from a dhaba in Theog, eight bottles from a Punjabi dhaba in Shimla's Sabzi Mandi and 10 bottles from the Jutogh area.MSID:: 131068493 413 |
