Couple found dead in hotel room in Roorkee; probe on

Roorkee: A young couple was found dead in a hotel room in Roorkee’s Mohanpura locality on Friday, with police suspecting suicide.25-year-old Sagar, a resident of Nathukhedi village, and a 22-year-old woman from Landhaura had checked into the hotel on Thursday evening and were scheduled to check out on Friday afternoon. When they failed to do so and did not respond to repeated calls, hotel staff alerted the police.Officers found the room locked from inside. Upon opening the door with a duplicate key, they found the couple lying dead on the bed. No suicide note was found at the spot.“The room had a strong smell, indicating that the couple may have consumed pesticide. Prima facie, the case appears to be linked to a love affair, but the exact cause of death will be ascertained only after the postmortem and forensic reports are received,” said senior sub-inspector Dharmendra Rathi.The bodies have been sent for postmortem.
