Man gets wife tonsured, held
A man who got his wife tonsured for refusing to bring additional dowry was arrested by police along with his mother in Sanatnagar.
Salma Begum, 22, of Alampur in Sanatnagar was married to Ahmed, a car driver, two months ago. At the time of the marriage, Salma's parents gave Rs 10,000 as dowry.
According to police, Salma was harassed by her husband and in-laws to get additional dowry to construct a new house.
On Tuesday morning, Salma and her mother went to the Sanatnagar police station and lodged a complaint against Ahmed and his mother, Mehrunnisa.
Based on their complaint, police took them into custody.
