Times News NetworkUjjain: An assistant grade-II clerk posted in Ratlam district was caught on Tuesday for accepting a bribe of Rs10,000 from a retired teacher for issuing his pension payment order and retirement certificate.The clerk, Anil Verma, was posted at the cluster centre of Kamla Nehru Govt Higher Secondary School in Jaora. The complainant, Lakshminarayan Lot, a retired higher secondary school teacher from Hatpipliya in Jaora block, had approached Lokayukta after the clerk allegedly demanded money to process his retirement documents.Acting on the complaint, a team led by deputy superintendent of police, Dinesh Chandra Patel, laid a trap and caught Verma red-handed while accepting the bribe amount.According to Lokayukta officials of Ujjain division, the accused took the cash in his hand and concealed it beneath a register kept on top of a drawer at his office table. The bribe money was later recovered from the same spot.A case was registered against Verma under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
