Kolhapur: Congress MLC Satej Patil said that the booth level officers (BLOs) were yet to map around 9 lakh out of 33.67 lakh registered voters in the district pre-special intensive revision (SIR) exercise of the electoral roll.
He said Congress has appointed one worker to each BLO from the district to ensure every voter was mapped and gets registered.Satej Patil said that in 12 states, in the name of SIR, 5.2 cr voters were dropped without giving them the notice or chance to prove their franchise. He said that now for proving the existence, the voters will be asked to line up outside the govt offices. The district Congress unit has developed a search engine which is accessed by scanning a QR code. Once accessed, the voter can check who is the BLO of their ward or locality, his contact number.
"The Congress worker will ensure the required documents are furnished to the BLOs if any voter from their assigned area do not show up in the electoral roll before last SIR exercise done in 2022. We don't want any voter to be disfranchised," said Patil.
Patil held meeting of over 350 party workers who have been assigned the task to assist BLOs during the mapping.
The mapping involves scrutinizing the name of the individuals in the pre-2022 voters list. If not, which is likely to be the case in most of the young voters or migrated voters, the BLO's ask for the documents.
"The list of documents sought by the BLO's miss key document such as Aadhar Card," said Patil who himself has signed up as party's agent to assist BLO from his ward in Kasba Bawada area of the city. He is going to step out with the BLO on Sunday morning and visit few homes.
