Two boys drown in quarry pool near Madurai

MADURAI: A college student and school student drowned in a pool in a stone quarry in Thiruthangal in Virudhunagar on Saturday.
Police said Vijayaraja, 19, had taken his cousin, Rooban, 14, son, of Muthiah of Athiveeranpatti near Thiruthangal to bath in stagnant pool of water in a stone quarry in the region. Vijayaraja is studying second year B. Com and Rooban the fourth standard in a local school.
There relatives had gone looking for them to the spot, as they had not returned till late. They had found the clothes the boys had been wearing near the pool, and informed the fire service about the missing boys, who retrieved the bodies.
Thiruthangal police have registered a case.
