Man hacked to death in broad daylight

MANDYA: A 29-year-old man was hacked to death in broad daylight in K R Pete town on Sunday.
Bhaskar, a resident of K R Pete town, was brutally murdered by an armed gang over a year-old enmity. The police said that the five-member gang led by a person identified as Arun intercepted the victim while he was on his way to the market for purchasing flowers.
The murderers attacked Bhaskar mercilessly with lethal weapons in a thickly populated area. The victim tried to save himself by entering into a grocery shop, but he collapsed and died inside the shop due to the injuries inflicted on him.
Accused Arun, his henchmen Mahadev, Anand, Koushik and Venkatesh, were arrested by police within two hours of the crime. "The five men were fleeing in a car. We intercepted them near K R Nagar town and arrested them," police said.
Police said the main accused, Arun, had survived a murderous attack by Bhaskar a year ago and this attack was his retaliation. A case has been registered in K R Pete police station.
