Nashik city registers season’s highest temperature at 39.5°C, nights also warm
Nashik: Nashik city recorded the season's highest temperature for the second consecutive day as the mercury today inched up to 39.5°C from 38.8°C on Saturday.While on Saturday the jump in maximum temperature was 3.2 degrees to reach 38.8°C, Sunday saw the mercury soaring even higher, albeit by a smaller margin.The night-time temperatures are also on the steady rise as mercury rose to 20.6 °C on Sunday, up from 19.3°C on Saturday."The temperatures are on the rise, both maximum and minimum, which means lesser respite for the citizens in the night. While there is no warning about the heat wave, the citizens have to be careful while moving out in the sun and ensure they keep themselves hydrated," said a weatherman from the Nashik observatory of the Indian Meteorological Department. The previous seasonal high of 38.5°C was recorded on March 12. Unseasonal rain last month and in early April brought temporary relief, reducing maximum temperature down to 31.5°Con April 5.Since then, temperatures have climbed steadily over the past week, with the mercury peaking on Sunday, indicating the gradual intensification of summer conditions across the city and surrounding areas as heat stress builds ahead of peak summer.
By this time last year, the maximum temperature of Nashik crossed the 40°C mark. However, the temperature is higher by 1.7 degrees than its normal temperature during this time of the year.In North Maharashtra region, Jalgaon district recorded 41.6°C, which is higher by 0.8 degrees when compared to its normal temperature, and Malegaon also recorded 41.4°C, which was higher by 1.1 degrees as compared to its normal temperature.
