Kolhapur: A leopard, trapped under a wooden platform beneath a net set up at a grocery shop, was rescued by foresters at Laxmikant Wadi in Mirjole village of Ratnagiri district on Friday.
The rescued leopard is a female, approximately 6 to 8 months old.
Currently, it is under the supervision of the forest department and the search for its natural habitat is underway. At the site, large crowd of villagers were gathered. The foresters had to move them to safe distance before starting the rescue operation
The leopard was unable to move in the net. The leopard was examined and fed.
Earlier this month, an injured leopard entered a house in the Dabholi village of Sindhudurg district, before forest department officials rescued the animal.
