Pune: As many as eight vehicles, including a car, were damaged in two separate cases of vandalism in Ambegaon Pathar and Karvenagar on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.In Ambegaon Pathar, off the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass, two armed men damaged a car and a two-wheeler on a public road late on Saturday night.The Ambegaon police have registered a non-cognisable offence against the duo. According to the police, they moved around in the area with sharp weapons before damaging vehicles as they wanted to terrorise the local residents.A video of the incident surfaced on social media sites. The police said they have identified the duo, and the police are searching for them.Another case of vandalism happened in Karvenagar on Sunday morning when six two-wheelers were damaged at a parking lot of a society. The Warje police have initiated the process of registering a case.Mahesh Bolkotgi, senior inspector of the Warje police, said, “Our team has started examining CCTV footage to identify the suspect (s). Prima facie, our investigation revealed that someone took out acid from the battery of a vehicle and threw it at the two-wheelers. The liquid of the battery is highly inflammable. Following the incident, plastic parts and paint of these vehicles came out.”Bolkotgi said, “There have been disputes among the residents, and we suspect that the incident was a fallout of this dispute. The vehicles were randomly targeted,” he said.
