Pune: The Hadapsar police have registered a case against an autorickshaw driver, a woman passenger and another male passenger, after they beat up a PMPML bus driver around midnight on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
The incident took place after the bus brushed against the autorickshaw at the Hadapsar Gadital bus stop. The three people beat up bus driver Omkar Kore (32) of Chinchwad. Kore later lodged a complaint with the Hadapsar police station.
According to police, the bus was heading towards Chinchwad from Hadapsar.
“The bus was about to leave the depot when it brushed against the autorickshaw, enraging its driver. The two passengers, both residents of Hadapsar, also started abusing the bus driver,” said senior inspector Sanjay Mogale.
“The bus driver neglected their abuse and started driving ahead. However, the auto driver chased the bus and halted his vehicle in front of it. The trio climbed into the bus and beat up the driver,” he said.
“The bus conductor tried to pacify them, but they did not pay any heed to his requests,” he added.
The officer said the incident took place behind the police station, and Kore and the conductor raised an alarm.
“Following this, the trio was taken to the police station. We served them notices asking them to cooperate with the investigations,” Mogale said.
The autorickshaw sustained some damage in the incident, but none of its occupants suffered injuries.
