CG’s Kriti, Mahak picked for Central Zone team
Raipur: 2 cricketers from the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association (CSCS) — Kriti Gupta and Mahak Narwase — were selected in the Central Zone squad for the upcoming Senior Women's Inter-Zonal Multi-Day Trophy 2025–26, to be organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in Puducherry from March 20. Their selection came on the back of impressive performances in the Senior Women's One Day Trophy, where both players emerged as standout performers for Chhattisgarh.Opening batter Kriti Gupta finished as the team's leading run-scorer, accumulating 294 runs in 9 matches with an exceptional average of 73.50. Her consistency at the top of the order included 3 half-centuries and an unbeaten 94, underlining her ability to anchor the innings and play long knocks — a quality crucial for the longer format of the Inter-Zonal multi-day competition. All-rounder Mahak Narwase impressed with the ball, claiming 20 wickets in 9 innings at an outstanding average of 14.30. Her ability to strike regularly, including 2 four-wicket hauls, made her one of the most effective bowlers in the tournament and a key factor behind her selection in the Central Zone squad. Officials said that the duo's consistent performances and match-winning contributions during the domestic season played a decisive role in earning them a place in the Central Zone side.
The Inter-Zonal tournament will feature teams from North, South, Central, East, West and North-East Zones, bringing together top performers from across the country. Kriti and Mahak will represent Central Zone in the competition. According to the schedule, Central Zone will face West Zone from March 20 to 22 in the league stage. The semi-finals are slated for March 26–28, while the final will be played from April 1–3.
