Chhattisgarh Muay Thai players secure 17 medals at national championship
Chhattisgarh delivered an impressive performance at the 7th UMAI National Youth Muay Thai Championship in Haldwani, finishing with 17 medals—seven gold, four silver, and six bronze. Meghalaya emerged as the overall champion, with Assam taking second place, while Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh shared third. Chhattisgarh added five gold medals on the final day. Samidha Agrawal of Raipur defeated her Mizoram opponent, while Raipur’s Sanjeet Mohanty clinched the under-10 gold after being declared the winner in a “no contest” bout. Kapsa Gupta of Dalli Rajhara (Balod) won gold by beating her Bihar rival. In the Wai Kru solo event, Balod’s Sadhike Dubey and Himani Darsena also secured gold in their respective categories. Earlier, Yuvraj Singh of Jagdalpur and Tanushree Meena of Dalli Rajhara had won gold medals for the state. The 36-member Chhattisgarh contingent comprised 27 players and nine officials. Of the 27 players, 10 were eliminated in the quarterfinals. The silver medallists were Baljeet Kaur, Siddhi Nirmalkar, Nityam Kumar Sahu, and Aditya Jha. Bronze medals were won by Twinkle Tandia, Varsha Nirmalkar, Chhaya Nag, Aditya Gupta, Simran Singh, and Aryaman Sehgal.
