Chennai: Sadhguru’s Cauvery Calling movement will organise a “Food Forest Cultivation Seminar and South Indian Fruits Festival” at SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Trichy on June 14, bringing together agricultural scientists, progressive farmers and experts to promote tree-based multi-crop farming and sustainable agriculture.
Cauvery Calling field coordinators Swami Srimukha and Tamilmaran, along with UN award-winning farmer Valluvan, told reporters in Chennai that the programme aims to revive traditional food forest systems and help farmers diversify their incomes through fruit cultivation, value addition and better market linkages.
The event will feature presentations by scientists from leading agricultural and horticultural research institutions, talks by successful farmers from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh, and a large-scale exhibition showcasing natural and sustainable farming practices. Participation is open through prior registration, organisers said.
