Three booked for possessing ganja in Trichy prison

Trichy: A convicted prisoner and two remanded accused were booked on Monday for possessing and smuggling 10g of ganja inside Trichy central prison.The contraband was found when the prison authorities conducted a search among the inmates on Sunday evening. The convict was A Muniyappan, 27, from Karur district and was working in the prison’s poultry farm. During an inquiry, he confessed that a visitor had given him ganja and instructed him to hand it over to K Suriya Prakash, 21, from Dindigul district, and K Sameer Ahamed, 22, from Trichy, who were recently remanded in a drug possession case.Based on a complaint from prison officials, K K Nagar police registered a case and are investigating.
