Suti assembly results 2026: TMC's Emani Biswas defeats BJP's Mahabir Ghosh by 12,357 votes

In West Bengal's Suti, BJP's Mahabir Ghosh lost to TMC's Emani Biswas, traling behind with 12,357 votes. Biswas got 81,330 votes, while Ghosh got 68,973 votes.Suti in 2026 will be contested by TMC's Emani Biswas, BJP's Mahabir Ghosh, and Congress's Alfazuddin Biswas.Suti is a general constituency in Murshidabad district, falling under the Jangipur Lok Sabha seat. It covers a partially rural, partially urban area with a relatively low SC/ST ratio and a significant Muslim population. Historically, the RSP (Revolutionary Socialist Party) won the seat repeatedly during the Left Front era, before the Congress-TMC alignment began to challenge it.In 2016, Congress's Humayun Reza won the seat, defeating TMC's Emani Biswas by a modest margin of under 4,000 votes. The 2021 election showed a dramatic TMC consolidation: Emani Biswas won for TMC by over 70,000 votes, reflecting the extraordinary swing towards TMC in Murshidabad's Muslim-majority seats. Biswas is again the TMC candidate for 2026 and, as the sitting MLA, enters as a strong favourite. Congress fields Alfazuddin Biswas and BJP's Mahabir Ghosh are both looking to provide credible opposition in a seat where the gap from 2021 will be difficult to bridge.
