VCK's Vanni Arasu emerges victorious, securing 63833 votes, against AIADMK's Arjunan P, by a margin of 734 votes.The Tindivanam constituency witnessed a high-stakes electoral battle in the 2026 Assembly elections. The AIADMK re-nominated incumbent P Arjunan, who sought to defend his seat by highlighting his work in rural development. He faced a rigorous challenge from VCK’s Vanni Arasu (DMK-led alliance), a former MLA aiming to reclaim the segment for the ruling alliance. The entry of S Sakthivel, representing the TVK and Pachimuthu P of the NTK, added a competitive edge. In the 2021 election, Arjunan P (AIADMK) secured victory with 87,152 votes (48.2% vote share), defeating Seethapathy P (DMK) by a margin of 9,753 votes.

In the 2016 election, Seethapathy P (DMK) had won by the narrowest of margins—just 101 votes—against AIADMK candidate Rajendran S P. Voter turnout reached 88.52%, a sharp increase from the 82.58% in 2021. This surge is largely attributed to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive, which successfully updated the rolls. Tindivanam (Assembly constituency No. 72) is a reserved (SC) segment in Villupuram district.

The 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections were held in a single phase on April 23, recording a high voter turnout of 85.15%, with results declared on May 4. The polls witnessed an intense three-way contest that challenged the state’s traditional bipolar political structure. The electoral battle was primarily between the DMK-led alliance, including the INC and other parties, headed by MK Stalin and the AIADMK-led alliance, headed by Edappadi K Palaniswami, along with the BJP and other parties. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), marking actor Vijay’s political debut as a third force across all 234 constituencies.
