The Utah Mammoth have been sensational this season. But the newest team in the NHL delivered a statement performance on Tuesday night at Delta Center. Dylan Guenther scored twice and added an assist in a dominant 6-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.More importantly, Guenther's second goal represented a franchise milestone. The 22-year-old right-winger became the first player in Utah history to score 50 career goals with the organization, etching his name into the record books.

Dylan Guenther’s franchise milestone came as they broke Toronto Maple Leafs’ point streak

Guenther's historic 50th goal came during a three-goal second period that broke the game wide open. The right winger finished the night with a 2-1-3 stat line, giving him a team-leading 23 goals on the season. The milestone carries extra significance given Utah's brief existence as a franchise. The Mammoth relocated from Arizona before the 2024-25 season, making Guenther's achievement a testament to his production since joining the organization. Guenther also set another franchise record during the victory. His two goals came just 1:18 apart, the fastest pair scored by the same player in Utah history. The mark surpassed Logan Cooley's previous record of 1:50 set earlier this season against St.
Louis. Michael Carcone opened the scoring just 3:22 into the game. JJ Peterka, Jack McBain and Daniil But added goals as Utah rolled to their most complete performance of the season. Karel Vejmelka made 19 saves, waiting nearly eight minutes before facing his first shot. But the victory carried significant meaning beyond Guenther's personal achievement. Utah snapped Toronto's 10-game point streak, marking the longest streak the Mammoth have ended in franchise history. Head coach Andre Tourigny praised his team's pace and execution after the win. "We liked the pace of our game and the speed we had offensively and defensively," Tourigny said. He continued, "We attacked every shift with a lot of speed through the neutral zone and a lot of pace and a lot of pressure on their D." The Maple Leafs entered the game riding momentum from their impressive run but couldn't match Utah's intensity.Calle Jarnkrok scored Toronto's only goal early in the third period, but by then the outcome had already been decided. Dennis Hildeby stopped 34 of 40 shots for Toronto in the losing effort. The Maple Leafs fell to 23-15-7 with the loss, their first defeat in regulation since late December. The two points proved crucial for Utah's playoff positioning. The victory improved the Mammoth to 23-20-4 with 50 points, vaulting them into the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. The Mammoth have won four of their last five games as they approach the season's halfway point.
