Having got no response to their pending demands from the BJP government in Himachal Pradesh, farmers under the banner of sanyukt kisan manch held protest demonstrations across the hill state on Monday. Submitting a three-point charter of demands to the government, protesting farmers have warned of intensifying their agitation if timely steps were not taken by the government to resolve their grievances.

The apple growers of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttarakhand will stage a two-day sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi from March 6 against fruit import and for the subsidy on fertilisers, insecticides, and fungicides.

The apple growers on Friday held a protest demonstration near the state secretariat in Shimla to press for their various demands.

Around 15 farmers from the Kisan Ekta Manch were put under house arrest on Friday, a day after they announced that they will march towards Delhi through Kalindi Kunj.
