Bhopal: A 24-year-old tea stall worker was allegedly abducted in a car at gunpoint, assaulted, and robbed by a group of five men over the suspicion that he was acting as a police informer.One of the accused was recently booked by police for betting/gambling in the Bag Sewania area and the accused suspected that the tea stall worker tipped police about their activities. While driving towards Vidisha after abducting him, the accused allegedly threatened to kill him and even harm his nephew if he did not admit to being a police informer.The complainant further alleged that the accused snatched around Rs 8,000 in cash and his silver bracelet. He told police that the group later stopped near Goharganj for a party, during which he managed to escape and seek help from passersby.According to police, complainant Naveen Singh, 24, a resident of Pipaliya Pende Khan in Bag Sewania, works at a tea stall near a private university.Investigation officer ASI Veermani Pandey said that in his complaint, Naveen stated that around 11 pm on May 28, he was walking outside the shop when a car stopped nearby.
One of the occupants, identified as Vivek Dangi, whom he knew previously, approached him along with another youth and allegedly accused him of “informing” against them.The accused allegedly persuaded him to sit inside the car, saying they wanted to talk. Naveen later found that besides Vivek, four other youths were also inside the car.As the vehicle moved, the occupants allegedly started abusing and assaulting him and drove towards the Vidisha side via Barkheda Pathani. Naveen told police that despite repeatedly asking to be dropped, the accused refused.During the journey, one of the accused allegedly pointed a pistol at his head and demanded that he confess whether he had informed against them. Naveen maintained that he had not acted as an informer.The accused later stopped for a party and Naveen managed to escape. Naveen said he eventually reached Bajrang Chowk on Raisen Road around 7 am the next morning and contacted a co-worker, who came to pick him up. He subsequently approached police and was sent for medical examination. Based on his complaint, Bag Sewania police have registered a case on charges of wrongful confinement, assault and criminal intimidation against the accused. No arrests have been made so far.
