Bhopal: A 69-year-old man, who retired from the medical education department, was allegedly duped of Rs 1.45 lakh by cyber fraudsters through the Telegram app on the pretext of doubling his investment in gold trading.
Acting on his e-Zero FIR filed via the national cybercrime helpline (1930), Koh-e-Fiza police on Monday filed a case.
According to police, the complainant, Narottam Kumar Sharma, 69, the retired official said that on Dec 15, 2025, he received a message on his Telegram ID through a channel, followed by a phone call. The caller claimed to be operating a govt-authorised trading service and promised returns of more than double the invested amount within 10–15 days.
Trusting the caller, Sharma transferred Rs 1,45,213 in multiple transactions and he was shown profits but could never withdraw the money.
