GURGAON: A trader and a labourer working with him got electrocuted in Sadar Bazar area on Thursday as they touched a high-tension wire while they were fixing a display board on the top of their shop.
The victims have been identified as Rajendra Manchanda(50), who ran a cloth shop in this busiest commercial area in old city, andlabourer Lalit (27). Police registered an FIR based on the compliant lodged byLalits wife, Gudiya Devi.
Manchanda was the owner of Rahul Fashion inSadar Bazar. The police said that he had called Lalit to fix the display boardon the top of his shop on Thursday. About 1.45 pm, the two climbed to therooftop of the shop and accidentally they touched the high-tension wire.
Both of them died on the spot. We rushed to the site immediatelyafter receiving an emergency call from local shop owners, said a senior policeofficer.
Their bodies have been handed over to their family membersafter police conducted postmortem.
It was accidental. We have nowurged all the shop owners here not to get adventurous to put hoarding on thetop. The market association must spread the word among its members. Theelectricity department also needs to put things in place to ensure suchaccidents dont occur again, said a police officer, who was present at thespot.
