Security guard inflicted self-wounds to frame in-laws: Cops
Times News NetworkKhargone: A security guard who had claimed he was brutally assaulted by his in-laws, had in fact inflicted more than 100 wounds on himself, the police said.Karahi police station in-charge Rajendra Ingle told TOI on Saturday evening that an investigation found that the security guard, Govardhan Jogi, had alleged that when he visited his in-laws’ house on May 8 to bring back his pregnant wife and three-year-old daughter, he was held hostage, stripped naked and attacked with sharp-edged weapons, leaving him with more than 100 injuries across his body. After examining circumstances and recording statements, investigators concluded that the injuries were self-inflicted. Police said Jogi had gone to his in-laws’ residence to take his wife and daughter home, but the family refused to send them with him because he was heavily intoxicated. They were concerned for safety of his pregnant wife, young daughter and the unborn child, officers said.Investigation found that Jogi later returned to the house after consuming more alcohol and allegedly created a disturbance. During the altercation, he assaulted his wife, mother-in-law and sister-in-law. Police said the situation escalated when the sister-in-law threatened to lodge a molestation complaint against him.“During questioning, Jogi admitted that he panicked after the threat and fabricated the entire story,” Ingle said.Police said that a case of assault had already been registered against Jogi based on complaints filed by his wife and sister-in-law on May 11. “ So, the police isn’t going to take action against him for fabricating and misleading in this case,” the police station in-charge said.
