Alappuzha nurse dies of amoebic brain infection

Kottayam: A nurse from Ambalapuzha in Alappuzha died of amoebic meningoencephalitis at Thiruvananthapuram medical college hospital.Aryamol, 26, daughter of Vijayan and Ambili from Neerkunnam Kalathil in Ambalapuzha North panchayat's 19th ward, passed away on Friday.Aryamol had returned home two months ago after resigning from her job in Bangalore to work abroad. She sought treatment at Alappuzha medical college hospital after showing symptoms a month ago. She was later discharged from hospital, but the symptoms reappeared. She was undergoing treatment for about a week at a private hospital in Parumala. As her condition worsened, she was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram medical college hospital, where she passed away on Friday morning while on a ventilator.The funeral was held at her house. Arya was the sole breadwinner for her family, belonging to the fishers' community. Besides her parents, she is survived by her sisters Surya and Revathi.
