NAMAKKAL: Tamil Nadu Federation of Traders' Associations has demanded that the Election Commission allow traders to carry cash up to Rs 2 lakh in cash for business purposes without documents. The federation has threatened to hold a protest in Chennai on March 31 to press for its demand. Election flying and static squads were harassing traders and seizing the cash they carried for business purposes, federation president A M Vickramaraja, who is also the national principal vice-president of the All India Traders' Federation, told reporters in Namakkal on Friday evening.

He said letters had been sent to the Election Commission of India several times in this regard, but no action had been taken.“If the ECI doesn’t heed to our demand after the protest on March 31, we will close our shops and besiege district collector's offices throughout the state,” he said.
