Couple found dead at home, probe on

T'puram: An elderly couple was found dead at their house in Kollam on Saturday, hours before they were scheduled to return to Dubai, in what police suspect to be a case of suicide linked to financial difficulties.The deceased were identified as Sugathan (67) and his wife Latha (60), who were found dead inside their residence at Anchumukku, Kadakkal around 11.15am. Sugathan was engaged in business activities in Kerala and the UAE.According to Kadakkal police, relatives living nearby became suspicious after repeated knocks on the door went unanswered.Police said Sugathan was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the bedroom, while Latha was found lying face down on the cot. Relatives alerted police, who conducted inquest proceedings and shifted the bodies to medical college hospital, Kollam, for autopsy.Initial findings point to suspected suicide, though the exact cause of death would be confirmed only after receiving autopsy report, police said.Police, who registered a case, also recovered flight tickets booked for the couple's return to Dubai on Saturday night. The couple mostly lived abroad and had arrived in Kollam around four to five days ago for a short visit, police added. tnn
