Lucas di Grassi is among the many Formula E drivers impressed by the new GEN4 car. The Lola Yamaha ABT driver has been part of Formula E since its inception in 2014 and has now shared that he is most looking forward to experiencing the extra speed the new-generation car will offer, with a 600-kilowatt power output. The car was unveiled earlier this week in France and will officially hit the track next season.

Lucas di Grassi impressed by GEN4 car, highlights speed and grip gains

Sharing his reaction to the GEN4 car, Lucas di Grassi told FormulaE.com, “It feels futuristic. There are a lot of changes; I would say the main one is the tyres. We have upgraded tyres in GEN4, more downforce as well, so finally we actually have big wings and proper downforce in the car.”“GEN3 Evo was more about the powertrain, but in GEN4 there is also a big upgrade, from 350 kilowatts to 600 in quali mode, and at 600 kilowatts you feel a lot of acceleration. The acceleration is very impressive,” the Lola Yamaha ABT driver added.
Di Grassi revealed he is excited to experience the extra speed and grip the car will offer next season. “It’s very important that we move forward with the technology in parallel as the championship grows. GEN4 is a big step from GEN3, but there is still scope to improve further. It’s very hard to say what fans will experience, but for sure a much faster car, intense battles, and a highly competitive grid.
I think what I’m most looking forward to is this extra grip and speed that this car will provide,” he said.

Lucas di Grassi continues to compete in Formula E

Lucas di Grassi was present at Circuit Paul Ricard in the south of France when the Formula E GEN4 car made its track debut in front of a select audience. He also shared a picture from the circuit on Instagram, captioned: “The original 4 and GEN4. This is a tipping point for @fiaformulae. The future is bright. And electric.”
Di Grassi continues to race in Formula E in its 12th season. Although he has not enjoyed the strongest results so far, he continues to contribute to the development of the team’s car. He will return to the track for Rounds 7 and 8 in Berlin, with the double-header taking place from 1-3 MayAlso read: Exclusive interview: Edoardo Mortara shines for Mahindra Racing this season, says “important to keep your feet on the ground”.
