4 injured as man rams SUV into multiple vehicles, house in Doon
Dehradun: At least four people were injured after an MUV hit several other vehicles on Dehradun's busy Rajpur Road and Old Survey Road under Dalanwala police station late on Thursday evening.According to eyewitnesses, the accused driver was driving a Uttarakhand registered MUV when he hit the commuters majorly on two-wheelers. The mayhem came to a halt after the accused rammed into a house on Old Survey Road after breaking through the main gate. The house owner, Sunil Chhabra, told TOI that the incident happened at around 8.15pm when the family was inside. "I was in my bedroom when I heard a loud bang as if an earthquake had hit our house. We rushed to our terrace to check and saw a white car stuck to the wall of our living room after uprooting the heavy metal entrance gate of the house. From the terrace itself, I saw two persons lying on the narrow road in front of our house with people gathering near them," said Chhabra. He said fortunately nobody from the family was injured, but heavy damage was caused to the property. "Before coming to a halt, the accused had completely uprooted our entrance gate and then sandwiched our parked car and a scooter with the house's outer wall. Later we also came to know that the car had earlier hit three more people on two-wheelers before hitting the two who lied on the road motionless in front of my house. I quickly called up the ambulance and sent them to hospital. The accused had abandoned his car and fled the scene only to be nabbed by a motorbike-borne police unit after a few metres from the crime spot," said Chhabra, who lodged a complaint at the nearby police station. Meanwhile, Dalanwala SHO Santosh Kunwar said at least four injured have been rushed to hospital for treatment. "The accused has been detained and is being questioned," he said.
