Dehradun: A case has been filed against a retired Army officer and his wife for allegedly cheating a fellow resident of Dehradun in a property deal worth Rs 30.5 lakh in 2023. The incident came to light after the complainant, , a resident of Patel Nagar, lodged a complaint on Friday against the retired Lt Col and his wife.
He alleged that the couple had agreed in 2023 to sell him a property in the Bhandari Bagh area for Rs 30.5 lakh, for which he paid an advance of Rs 4 lakh.
SI Omveer Singh said, "Despite the deal, the accused sold the property to another person without informing the complainant. He confronted the couple and asked them to return his advance on several occasions. However, they refused and threatened to kill him, saying that nobody could do anything against them despite committing fraud."
"Based on the complaint, a case was registered under 420 (cheating), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC. A probe is on in the case, and the accused will be called in for questioning," said Singh.
