Interfaith couple in Koppal seeks police protection

Koppal: An interfaith couple from the district has sought police protection, alleging threats and pressure from their families following their recent wedding.Keshav, a resident of Hulihaider village in Kanakagiri taluk, and Tasleema from Sulekal village in Gangavathi taluk, fell in love after meeting during commute to their college. Their acquaintance, which began on a bus, gradually developed into a relationship, and after nearly two years, the two decided to get married.The couple recently solemnised their marriage at the Lakshmi temple in Kanakagiri. While they maintain that the decision was mutual, they claim to be living in fear — Tasleema's family is reportedly pressuring her to marry another person.After the wedding, Tasleema was seen following Hindu customs, drawing local attention. Amid rising concerns, the couple, accompanied by a lawyer, approached the SP office on Saturday seeking protection, citing a threat to their lives."We stand by our decision. We have not harmed anyone. We only want to live peacefully," they said.
