Nashik: The Nashik Zilla Parishad has deployed the first batch of 13 tankers to supply drinking water to 22 villages in Yeola taluka. This move comes after the sub-divisional officer of Yeola Nandgaon approved the same, following verification of the demand.
"These are first set of villages in Yeola taluka that had been demanding drinking water supply through tankers after their wells dried up," said block development officer Sandeep Wayal. The villagers placed the demand with the gram panchayat. The requests were routed through sub-divisional officer.
"There are several other measures that have to be followed including acquisition of wells having water. But since groundwater levels in all wells in these regions have gone down, the shortage of water is being badly felt," said another senior officer. — Abhilash Botekar
