Visakhapatnam: The VRS (Voluntary Retirement Scheme) employees of Vizag Steel Plant (VSP) have now approached the court for their pending arrears as the plant management has not settled the amounts to them even after one year they opted for voluntary retirement. They said more than 1,130 employees opted for VRS on March 31 of last year and they got a 100% retirement package of VRS. Another 464 employees took VRS in Sept last year, but they got only 50% in two instalments. Around 67 employees in March of this year opted for VRS and they got only a 25% package of VRS. Employees Union Leader of AITUC Adinarayana alleged that plant management had diverted the amount sent by the central govt for the VRS employees.Employees Union leaders alleged that the plant management has been observing delay tactics in implementing the arrears to the VRS employees. "Plant management representatives are not announcing the date for the release of pending amounts. On one side, the plant and the ministry have been announcing that production has been increased and the plant is getting profits. But the plant is not paying the money to VRS employees," they alleged.
