In 2016, Congress's Isha Khan Choudhury won the seat, defeating Sabitri Mitra of TMC. The 2021 contest saw a dramatic turnaround, with TMC's Sabitri Mitra winning comfortably by over 33,000 votes as Gour Chandra Mandal of BJP came second. For 2026, TMC has chosen Kabita Mandal as its candidate rather than the previous incumbent, while BJP again fields Gour Chandra Mandal. The seat sits within the Maldaha Dakshin parliamentary constituency, which Congress won in 2024, reflecting a complex three-way competitive dynamic.
