In Taliparamba, Independent candidate T K Govindan Master S/O Kunhikkannan Nambiar won the 2026 Kerala Assembly election by 12,551 votes against CPI(M) candidate P K Shyamala Teacher, while N Haridas contested from the BJP.Taliparamba, in Kannur district, blends semi-urban and rural areas with a politically aware electorate of about 2.25 lakh. In 2021, M. V. Govindan (CPI-M, LDF) retained the seat, defeating UDF’s K. K. Shailaja by a margin of roughly 3,800 votes. BJP’s presence remains limited but is slowly increasing.
