Showers lash Sattari; Valpoi town among worst affected

Valpoi: Heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds lashed parts of Sattari taluka, causing widespread disruption on Saturday evening, with Valpoi town being among the worst affected.Several trees were uprooted due to the downpour, leading to blocked roads and severely affecting vehicular movement in parts of the taluka.In multiple incidents, fallen trees damaged vehicles parked along the roadside and near houses. Besides, electric poles and wires snapped at various locations, resulting in power outages across the taluka. Residents said the electricity supply remained disrupted till late night, adding to the inconvenience caused by the sudden spell of heavy rain.Emergency services were pressed into action to clear fallen trees and restore normalcy, while efforts to resume power supply and reopen roads were ongoing.
